Thanks :) He's had some painkillers and just gone to bed.

Actually Gal, although I've been feeling a bit guilty for not doing something, apparently it would either have made no difference, or could have been worse. At first glance they may well have seen the two tears and lasered them, which could have resulted in the retina detaching. The consultant he saw was happier that he was there today.
But anyway, having googled yesterday and found nothing at all suggesting an emergency, it didn't occur to either of us that we should drive all the way to Southampton.
And even though I've seen the Eye clinic entrance there, I wouldn't have known there was such a thing as eye casualty, maybe that should be publicised a bit more :?

Thanks, yes it is a bit scary and complicated; when the lovely nurse was explaining, I said oh, so, his 10 minutes per hour, if he goes to the loo, I put in his eye drops (which need a few mins between each) - oops, can he then eat?! And she said, well, you will have to work it out quite carefully :?

He had the paracetamol then admitted he might need something else, so he had some ibuprofen before bed, and I've taken the paracetamol up for if he needs them in the night. Hopefully he's so exhausted he'll just sleep.
Loz I was saying to his mum it's a bit like your sudden deafness, although hopefully won't have such drastic long-term effects we just don't know at the moment.

Di, continuing to send special healing thoughts to Buster. Such a shock when something like this happens. You can't prepare for things like this. Just hang on in there, do what you need to do right now and hopefully everything will go well xxx
