Passport signing

I have looked at the list and it is pretty long, but everyone has conflicting advice.

My niece is just applying for her first passport. She asked my husband to sign it. He is on the list but he doesn't have a passport himself.

They someone said anyone with a degree can sign it. I am sure that is wrong, but they are adamant.

My stepmum said Danny, who is the manager of the housing complex has offered to sign it. He doesn't have a GCSE let alone a Degree I think he might come under the category 'registered manager of company registered for VAT' as I presume East Midlands Housing Association would be registered for VAT.

The biggest problem for B is that she only moved back here in August, she has lived in Wales for 11 years.

I asked my friend Sarah when we last needed one signing, it was for Joe, as she's an accountant so was on the list.
Other times people at John's company have signed them because they've got the relevant engineering qualifications to appear on the list.

She should go down the pub, order a double and one for the landlord/lady, then get him/her to sign.

When I needed mine signing my husband, my sister, all three BILs and my MIL were all on the list but disqualifed by being family

So my friend who manages a company did it for me

it is a pain isn't it, I think it was a family friend who signed ours the last time, she worked for the local council - civil servant

We are fine, got ourselves good jobs. I have worked in GP surgeries and T has an office full of social workers, plus have a few teachers as friends. But none of them know B.

don't really understand this "list" as being acceptable in this day and age.

so you use someone on this list who unknown to you may be "dodgy" in their professional life

Teachers are always a good bet

You have to have a recognised profession eg doctor, lawyer or Indian Chief though perhaps not that and not a relative. I sign as a member of an engineering institution.
