How much do you pay ....

Postby TheOstrich » 08 Aug 2013, 15:24

.... for a cup of coffee down your way?

Just paid £4.40 for two cups of cappuccino for Mrs O and myself. :? Thought that was a bit excessive, or am I out of touch these days?

In town, a latte is about £2 to £2.30 depending on the cafe you choose....in our village it is slightly less but not much!

There is a huge markup on cafe prices but I do enjoy them! :D

£2.40 for the same order - 2 x cappuccino - on Monday from an independent - The Hellenic.

It never ceases to amaze me how much some chains will charge and how much some people will pay!

Dunno - never have coffee out :D

I'd probably expect to pay £2- 2.50 I suppose, especially knowing some of the business rents etc round here.

Ossie that is the going rate. Wait till you stop at a coffee shop on the motorway - you will think that was cheap.

Unless we're in Birmingham and John needs a reviving Starbucks, which is usually around the £2.40 mark, we only ever buy coffee if we stop for a rare treat at one of the cafes on the Chase whilst walking Billy and there we pay around £1.40 for a cup.

Blimey, that's interesting - thank you for your replies.

So it's the going rate unless I relocate to God's Own County .....

I guess I was a bit taken aback because I'm conditioned to only paying 80p to £1.20 for a polystyrene cup of dishwater purporting to be coffee at my various local soccer grounds ....

I paid £1.89 for an espresso at Manchester airport on Sunday. It was less than 2 mouthfuls!

Not really Ossie. The Hellenic and its sister, Olympic, have been here for donkey's years and are well known. It also depends on how much you get. Their cups are like small mugs about 3" high and 2" diameter. Not big, but the coffee is well worth it.
