Terrible few days.

We think they will live forever! My darling Barney is going to be put to sleep tomorrow, he has deteriorated so much in the past week. Cancer of the liver diagnosed by a vet who lived locally, the town vet where I took him did not mention the fact he has cancer, suggested more tests another couple of hundred pounds.
however the vet who came yesterday said he could go on for a month in pain and being sick and the kindest thing would be to help him on his way.. I am broken hearted, he is looking at me and when I talk to him, he wags his tail he has been the love of my life loyal such a wonderful loving companion since my husband died, I am bereft part of me will go with him..

Oh Kate I am so sorry ((((((((((Kate)))))))))) Such an awful place to be isn't it? So many of us here know the love and the feeling of sadness when we free our lovely pets from their suffering. For you there is the added pain of the connection he has to your husband, helping you through the dark days after your husband died.
I know no words will bring you comfort at this time, but at least you know you will be bringing comfort to your beloved Barney. Maybe in time that will bring you some relief from the pain of his loss.
