We are all safe and sound.
5.5, 6.5, and countless 4.x earthquakes today in the middle of the country, centred in the middle of the cook strait which is the dividing sea between the north and south islands. There are some reports of minor damage, but the big one was less than an hour ago, so the news is still filtering through. No injuries reported either.
There was also a 5.1 down at the bottom of the South Island, but no one lives down there really, so who knows what's happened there. I'm wondering if our plates are on the move?
Fears of another Christcurch are in a lot of people's minds at the moment, where it was the second big (but slightly smaller EQ) that caused the major damage and facilities.
Listening to talkback at the moment, and there was another EQ going on at the callers house. Just waiting now on the geonet app to see how big that one was.
Just come through, it was a 3.9.
Kia kaha Aotearoa. Stay strong New Zealand.
Weka who will be glued to the news tonight, and quietly shuffling an CD kit back together that got a little scattered after our shift.
