Further to Di's Tesco Quiz thread, I can report that indeed, this evening, in the foyer of our local Asda, there's a 4 foot C******** tree!

However, I guess we can let them off because it's festooned with leaflets advertising their festive C******** Saver Account .....

Secondly, driving home, I came up behind a cyclist wobbling a bit on the road. Hanging back, I watched him reach down and extract something from his pocket. "I think he's just taken out a mobile" says I to Mrs O. And indeed he had, because when we eventually overtook him giving him a wide berth, he had one hand on the handlebars, the other holding the phone, and he was looking down reading the screen.

This on a 40 mph single carriageway by-pass road ....

I'm no fan of cyclists and I'd cheerfully see them banned from roads. My views aren't helped by the fact that two weeks ago, I was brushed by one who came up behind me, silently, on a public pathway in the local Nature Reserve. Cyclists like these should be forced to take out compulsory insurance for any accidents they cause due to their own total stupidity.

I hate it when cyclists do that!!! It happens to me a fair bit as I walk a lot in built up areas.....

The trouble is that the police do not seem to realize that they are paid to enforce the laws, all laws..

When it comes to road traffic, their policy seems to be to turn a blind eye. I read the other day that about sixty per cent of motorists habitually exceed the legal speed limits. Pedal cyclists frequently ride on footpaths, and ride at night without light,
and the police do nothing about it, They seem more concerned with making friends with the general public.

At our retirement lodge we have had three visits from a police officer - to have a friendly chat, when they should be out doing the job we pay them for, - enforcing the law. We have complained about the difficulty we have crossing the road because of the speeding traffic, but to no avail. The only time they will do anything is when some poor old soul gets killed. I shall ask him next time he comes if he would like a list of volunteers.
