I've only managed cucumbers once Ria and they were gorgeous.

School always do well and I wonder if that's because although the kids water them every day they don't give them much - they only use little watering cans that they can lift.

We picked our first one this weekend Ria, and are still eating it in salad. Yummy, although the skin is a little thick, so I've been peeling it. Packed with flavour though 8-) :D

Well, after reading all the replies on here I tried Debih's idea of little but often and regularly (oh, and feeding with Tomarite) and it's worked a treat; I now have about 10 cucumbers in various stages of growing :)

Kaz, the 3rd (and last) I got off the plant had quite a thick skin; I should have peeled it but it was just OK.... but so delicious.

Cannot wait for my peppers and tomatoes to do their thing now

We've loads of cukes almost ready - we'll have a real glut next week   The one we have on the go now, the second one, didn't seem quite as thick skinned, but we peeled it anyway and it's delish. Just had some in a salad :)

Our courgettes are in flower so they won't be long - from experience I know once they start you get hundreds of the beggars :? The peppers are coming on, as are the tomatoes, but the rocket is a bit of a failure.......it is coming up but has a lot of weeds in. I reckon I can tell which is which but Mick and D are reluctant in case we end up eating weed salad    Next year I'll be more vigilant with it 8-)
