Will be going dancing. It will be a bit more sedate than this: :P :P :P
The drive home will be mostly motorway with very little traffic. If there is a clear sky may see some of the firework displays. And the Chinese lanterns which now seem all the rage for this type of event. Wondered what they were when we first saw them. Wont have had any alcohol for at least two days in case we get stopped by the police.
Will have a lie in before having smoked salmon for breakfast.

We're not fussed about NYE, never have been. There's a lot going on in the city centre, but I think quite a bit of it is being covered live on TV, so we will probably be boring old f**ts as well   , unless someone comes along with a better idea!

We've had an invite today from my sister to an Open House 'do' at hers on NYD. Not sure we'll go to be honest as it is a very long way to go, plus we are seeing them on the Friday and Saturday betwen Christmas and NY when they come to stay. We'd definitely make the effort it it wasn't for that fact, but it's a 200 mile round trip and not really worth it for a couple of hours................ :?

No, it makes for a very long day! We did it when Mum and Dad were alive as it was the only way to see them all................mum and dad didn't drive so as J (my sister) couldn't fit everyone in the car at once to come to us, we went to them. It's different now, mum and dad are gone and J's children are older and not always around...........my sister and her hubby came here in the summer which was lovely, and now they are coming for a couple of days between Christmas and NY which is also lovely.....

Things change, don't they? xxxx

They do Kaz, sadly. We used to have family parties on Christmas night, Boxing night and New Year's Eve...now there's nothing.

It can be pretty difficult to ignore NY here...I think we see Xmas as being for the children and New Year for the adults!

My father loved NY and it was always a big occasion in our home.

At midnight we would listen for the bells( usually ships hooting on the Clyde) and then we'd sit down to a full dinner of steak pie, etc - this was to make sure we started the year with a full stomach.
Afterward we'd have family, friends and neighbours calling on us and the party was helped along with huge amounts of booze!
Last year we brought the bells in in a local pub and where home by 2am-very early for us-but this year a friend is having a party so it's the pub then around to his house where we'll probably stay until at least 6am. :P :P :P

That's brought back memories Shaz! We always used to stand on the doorstep at Midnight to listen for the hooter at the pit - which was actually on the land where our estate is now built!
