Oh, thanks for those Jo.

I just did a fly-over on google maps. All the sites are still there but it looks as though most of the outlying ones have been sold off to light industry. No 6, my old place of work, certainly has.

I have also had a walk into Stafford, done many times before, but the old Queens appears to have been replaced with a roundabout.  However, the Sandon Rd Fish Bar is still there, that's where a mate's wife-to-be worked. She was mortified when some of us got posted out to Wildenrath in Germany in case we told the locals what she used to get up to. :D

So, having walked into town and back I feel a beer is needed and a trip to the NAAFI never hurt anyone. ;) 8-)

Cheers! :) :) :)

It's quite a walk you've had there - you'll definitely be needing a beer. Driving in would have you hitting the hard stuff though  Absolute congested nightmare of a place.

Tell me!

I was driving back from Worcester way a few years back and had had enough of the motorway so decided to take the scenic route via Uttoxeter....

So, Stafford used to be pretty easy - off the M6, into town, out by the Weston Road. Not any more! It has been invaded by the roundabout building aliens and fictional signpost artists. Loads of roundabouts, and signs that just give up on information. At one roundabout the sign will say Weston - turn right, at the next roundabout Weston will have disappeared! :x :x :x :x :x

I swear I saw the same cars over and over again, always coming from different directions.

I bet we were in one of those cars
Roundabouts, an abundance of traffic lights, one way systems, no right turns. Bloody retail parks jamming the place up
