Yes I've seen about the steam railway Saundra, that will be nice :) So many places shout about how wonderful they are for young children, our two are at an age where they don't want to see or hear young children :D

Incidentally, I don't really want to stay in a caravan (lack of space), but did email one site as it was in a nice location and no kids' clubs etc - and they wanted over £800 for the week  It makes some of the proper cottages look absolute bargains!

Di caravan parks and holiday parks charge silly money in my opinion, in the summer months. Cottages are much better value, which is why we've booked one this year instead.

Same as with your boys really, our two have grown out of wanting activities and organised 'fun' ;)

Same with our two. They're happy now to spend time bodyboarding rather than have us take them to various tourist traps to keep them entertained. Bude has fabulous surf so they spend their days in the sea, whatever the weather. I'm not really one for sitting around but I can deal with it as long as I have my book and this year Billy is coming with us so I can walk and play with him.

I am completely brainboozled now

I have managed to find some lovely places, but not necessarily that good for all of us. I will now leave it till tomorrow and try to have a good hard look at what's really suitable :)

We're in Devon from the 17th to the 23rd August Di, shame it's opposite ends of the county or we could have met up for a cuppa :) 8-) We could maybe sort something if it's the same week?

It is Kaz :D :D :D

Once we're sorted we'll have to see if we could, wouldn't that be lovely! :D

Mm that week, from 17th August is the Saturday, but we can start on the Sunday or Monday too.
Do help :D
Around Minehead/Dunster I think, but not too fixed if you have a better idea. Either within a town/village, or something that has 'things' for at least the boys and Bb to do. A swimming pool would be wonderful, but the ones I found were in Cornwall and it's too far.
For instance some have a games room - pool, table football, that sort of thing.
Dvd as well as Tv is probably a good idea, since we can't rely on the weather.
They're not beach fanatics - after all they can go anytime, but we like beaches.
Nearish to a shop and pub.

I've decided I'm not doing a caravan. Don't want big holiday parks. A house/cottage with garden preferably; there are some wooden lodges that look nice, far better than 'holiday chalets'.
This is one of the last ones I found last night:

And wouldn't you guess, I've changed my mind again :D

When I went back to the list, I realised the drive to south Devon is shorter, about 2 1/2 hours instead of 3+ to North...so I'm back at the south again :D

Yayyyy easier to meet up :D

We like South Devon's accessibility too - straight down the M5 from Gloucester to Exeter and we're nearly there 8-)
