We only watched it last night, and I was really pleased because I've recently finished reading The Lady of the Rivers and this started where that book leaves off. We enjoyed it, and will watch again next week.
If I am enjoying the programme I don't look out for mistakes.
Tbh the DM and such really annoy me when they go on about things like that. I am just grateful for something on tv other than soaps and reality tv.
Maybe instead of spending their time looking for tiny faults on what is basically an entertainment show their reporters could get off their backsides and find something newsworthy to report on.
Can you tell I got out of bed the wrong side this morning. I will get back in my box now.
I took it as a fantasy woven around a core history, which was fairly accurate. I did not watch it as a War of the Roses documentary.
Shakespeare, supposedly one of the best ever playwrights, wrote a number of 'historical' plays - Henry IV pt 1 to Richard III - none of them historically accurate, esp Richard III, and nobody complains about the use of dry ice or arc lamps when they are performed.
I didn't realise that the actor playing the king is the son of Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack. The only thing that I noticed was the possibility of a zip on her dress. It's entertainment for goodness sake!
OK, it probably was a zip, but it could have been a run of loops and eyelets hidden behind an ovelap. It is a trick known by tailors and seamstresses down the centuries. Mary Quant made a modification of it popular once more in the 60s as a way to hide buttons on coats.
