Ten years of war and now we might talk to the Taliban.

Better late than never, or something that should have been done before the war began?

We should never have been there in the first place. Once we were in there we should have fought a war, not tried to win with one hand tied behind our backs with the lunatic 'rules of engagement' the army has to stick to.
A farce, a bad joke and all for a hellhole that isn't worth one drop of our blood.

However blood has been spilled not only the blood of our troops thousands of whom are now being thrown on the scrap heap.(what a disgraceful country we are living in) but also the blood of innocent men women and children, and the mass of Afghans living in terrible conditions in tents on the borders of Islamabad.
And look what B'liar has created in Iraq. All based on lies... Misery, civil war, a nation dispossessed thousands of deaths and maimed and he has the audacity to refer to himself as a peace envoy as he makes millions from his crimes without any form of objection from the government the man should be jailed for life along with those who supported his attack on Iraq..

Both belong in the annals of infamy and all because the yanks are endemically bellicose. :(

Well if they take back the country and attack This, then there will be an excuse to have another nice war and beat them all over again....

I was watching a piece on CNN the other night (I know, I know) with an American spokesman explaining it all. It went something like this:

The Taliban has distanced itself from Al Qaeda. If it breaks away completely it would be good to talk. The Taliban has always promised not to attack anywhere outside of Afghanistan's borders. Afghanistan now has a stable and democratic government and will be a partner in the talks. And anyway, having now sorted out all the problems, we [the West] will be out of there completely within months.

You know what? Many people will buy that line, but anyone notice any flaws? He wasn't pushed too hard for any clarification.

Why can't we get decent politcians now? - or decent bankers - or decent you-name-its.

What has gone wrong ?

Or is my perception all wrong, and it's all in my mind ?

When I leave this world I would like to think that the world was a better place than when I was born.

Sadly, I don't think that will be the case - far from it.
