I must admit that I have regular blow ups at the three males in our house. The come through the door, kick their shoes off and just leave them. Apparantly if they put them in the understairs cupboard they'd get mixed up. We had shoe racks in there and everyone had a place to put their shoes and they wouldn't get mixed up if you put them where yours were meant to be. I bought four of these in the 60l size from Ikea, one each, and labelled and stacked them in the understairs cupboard. Nothing's changed. They regularly find their shoes out on the lawn in the back garden.
Cups and glasses on the windowsill are another pet hate of mine and something that they all do. And I'm pretty sure that the boys don't know where the dishwasher is as dirty crockery gets put anywhere but in there when they're told to put their's in.
Another, and it's Tom who does this the most, is that he goes into the living room and puts the TV on and either sits engrossed in his DS or iPad or leaves the room altogether with the TV still being on. I'm often downstairs in the kitchen so I don't realise that the TV is on and no ones watching it.
