Well.
As I didn't bother with dinner last night (far too many sauage rolls and cheesey nibbles) I didn't bother cooking much. I did cook for the girls (I decided that I am after all their mother and therefore one of my duties is to make sure they don't starve to death. And Mick was working lateish so wasn't home to feed them). I made them a simple pasta dinner and reminded them that as I am on strike they needed to lay and clear the table themselves, putting their stuff in the dishwasher. Which they dutifully did.
Mick arrived just before I was leaving for my meeting so the "I haven't made you any dinner" comment was thrown over my shoulder at him as I dashed out. I went to my meeting, ate more sausage rolls and then went to the pub, getting home at just before midnight and going straight up to bed.
This morning before I left the house I noted the following:
In the kitchen: no one had turned the dishwasher on and so it is full of dirty pots. The girls neatly stacked their breakfast pots by the side of the sink (no room in dishwasher), next to the bag that had contained the Indian takeaway that Mick obviously had for his dinner last night. I found the remains of the takeaway in the microwave so for hygiene reasons I put it in the freezer. Weetabix box and cornflake box were left on the side in the kitchen (along with the milk but I put that away).
In the lounge; no one has tided the cushions on the sofa that Mick tends to sit on and his pint glass and beer bottle are still on the coffee table next to "his" sofa; the dogs toys were lying about on the flor and S had left her school planner on the window seat (which I know she will need today at school).
Upstairs: both girls had left their pj's on the floor; L as usual had not made her bed; both girls had cups in their bedrooms; for some reason there are swimming goggles on the girls bathroom floor and Mick had managed to leave his dirty washing on the floor next to the washing basket in our bedroom so therefore it did not go in the machine this morning with my washing that was in the basket.
As I am at work today it isn't bothering me. This evening I am intending on taking the dog out and having a long soak in the bath and I am at work tomorrow. However, I am not sure if I will be able to hold out much longer than that as I am home on Thursday and Friday. I may have to shift my priorities - I can ignore the mess in the girls bedroom, stuff left on the coffee tables/dining table, the clothes not put in laundry baskets, etc but I won't be able to ignore dirty pots and mess in the kitchen. Grrr.
