It looks promising. Not a bad cast, with a mix of old and new faces, and well acted.

I just hope that ten episodes isn't a bit extended and that too much real history is not lost in poetic licence.

I did enjoy it. I was a little unsure as I loved the books and I don't think books ever really come across as well on film.

I noticed at the end that the credits said it is based on The White Queen, The Red Queen and the Kingmakers Daughter so it looks like they are doing the whole story in one go, which I am pleased about.

Like you Debih I love PG's books and am hoping this lives up to them! We watched Marple as I prefer to watch something I really want to concentrate on, on my own on iplayer

The best thing on the box yesterday evening was the tennis. Boris was a hoot there with his old wooden racquet. I just didn't fancy Marple after having so much fun watching the tennis, and I certainly didn't fancy the White Queen thing. Apparently there were loads of historical inaccuracies. I can't stand it when they skim over the facts like that. I feel that they are treating the viewers as fools.

Oh well, I will be watching just to see I don't much like it when they alter history either - The Tudors drove me mad for that reason, I only managed half of one episode

I quite liked it, but not sure about 10 episodes

I read the first few PG historical novels, but then got a bit bored.

Some of the language was a bit modern I thought and I swear she had a zip on the back of her dress and he had press studs on his jacket sleeves

I think it all depends on whether you are the sort of person who can switch off to these things. People have told me in the past to just "enjoy it for itself and stop looking for mistakes", but I just can't.

I did think it was beautifully filmed. The camera angles and lighting were wonderful, but maybe a bit 'fairytale'. I did find the use of paint, metal hand rails and glass windows a bit much, but it is only a romantic drama 'based' on historical events
