I started The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker whilst in the bath this evening. It is her first novel and was shortlisted for the Womens Fiction prize and has been named one of the best books of the year.

It is about the earth slowing down so the 24 hour day becomes longer.

I am only on chapter 6 but am already completely hooked.

The Woman Who Went to bed for a year by Sue Townsend.
Am quite a way through and still haven't decided whether I even like the woman or not :)

Debih I do like the sound of that - might have a look and see if I can get for my kindle 8-)

Di I'm a big Mole fan so thumbed through TWWWTBFAY in Waterstones, but wasn't sure it really grabbed me - let us know how you get on with it 8-)

I am listening to Woman who went to bed for a year on audio book and although I am enjoying the book I am finding the woman really, really annoying.

The more I listen to it the more angrier I get about this stupid, selfish woman just lying in bed for no reason, other than she feels like it, expecting everyone to wait on her hand and foot.

I am at a point quite a way through to do with her mother in law (don't want to say anything in case Di isn't there yet) and I had to stop listening as I was getting so cross with the silly selfish woman.

It's VERY thick.....might need to re-borrow it after the allotted time! ;)

Enjoying this immensely.....you have to keep reminding yourself that it's SK so won't be completely plausible, but boy it's confusing!!!

Me too Jo!

I've not read ALL of his books, but I started years ago with a fairly safe one (IMO) called Cujo, about a lovely St Bernard dog that was possessed.....then, my all time favourite, Christine. I have read others but some of them weren't as gripping as others. This one is proving up there with those that are :)

I've been reading them since I was about 11, my sister started me off on them. I haven't read all of them though, the Dark Tower ones don't appeal to me for instance, but I've read most I think. I found that he seemed to have gone off the boil a bit after his accident but he seems to have improved now, I loved Under The Dome :D
