Ok the trio, New Years Eve....

Postby miasmum » 08 Dec 2012, 19:09

What do you do for that?

Again we always have a lovely dinner cooked by Tim, we set the table, Luke has a glass of wine with us and we call it our restaurant dinner. Then we listen to some music, or watch something with music in on the telly. At midnight we pile on Luke's bed and watch the fireworks.

Not this year, again we will both be at work New Years Eve (same as Christmas Eve) so by the time we get home and pick Luke up it will be late and as we are both at work on the Weds he would have to go back the next day, so rather than confuse him we have opted for him not to come home. I can't bear the thought of being here without him, so we are going to the Cotswolds after work, to a pub that I chose specifically because it has no entertainment, just good food and a warm fire and we are staying the night. Then we can go walking the next day.

We don't do much at New Year - we are very much home birds and a bit boring really :? :o  To be fair last New Year mum had just died, so celebrating was the last thing on my mind, then for several years before that I was working on either NYs Eve or even on NYs Day itself so needed a clear head......

It might be nice actually this year to go out - might try to talk Mick into going down the rugby club they usually have a 'turn' on and it's staggering distance :D 8-)

Having Keltic blood NYE has always been celebrated, and I do mean celebrated. 8-)

When we were younger we would all traipse over to the Irish Club for hours of diddly-diddley music and lots of "My, Francis John, you HAVE grown!" Well. yes Mrs McBride/Whelan/Phelan/O'Brien, it's a year since you saw me and mum and dad do feed me! :)

We're now all too sensible for that malarkey so we gather together and pretend we are at the Irish club. Tommy brings round his collection of diddly-diddly music and....... :x

I'm normally asleep by about 10.00  sorry, boring ole fxxt me.

We used to go to the pub in Sodbury, or the con club, but then they started charging  to use the club or the pub, so we started staying in.

Our first year here, we were quite excited, thinking of al lthe lovely fireworks etc, with all the twinkly lights.

Went upstairs on the roof terrace and nada, nuffin, nowt.

There are loads of towns who do put on a fireworks display, loads of food etc, but you have to park miles away and I really can't be bothered.

They have a firework display in our town Ton in the plaza.

It gets chocca busy and as each bell chimes the custom is to eat a grape at each chime.

Being half pickled by then and a face full of grapes proves too much for some people.

We don't do much, either we have a nice homecooked meal or get a takeaway and then treat it as a normal night...I'd happily go to bed before Midnight but John will never let me, he's got that Celtic blood too Frank ;)

No idea. It is always a little adhoc. Someone, somewhere in the village is usually having a party.

The girls always stay at my mum and dads and we go there for lunch on New Years Day.

So we just have to wait to see what invitations come our way!
