Pink!!!

Postby Workingman » 27 May 2013, 17:11

I put a load of whites in the washer at 60C. Everything was absolutely pure white, all except an old England T shirt with a printed St George's Cross from the 2009 Ashes series... England lost at Headingley by an innings and a bucketload of runs so it was relegated to when I did cleaning duties. It was worn and washed every day I attended, and many times since.

Today the damned thing decided to release its already faded red into all my other pristine white things.

Any ideas.... anyone?

There is some stuff WM - I think it is called colour grab or something like that. I'm sure you will be able to get rid of the pink.

Dylon make a colour run remover so do Dr Beckman Frank, it will be in the laundry aisle near the Vanish and stuff. TBH if all the whites are pure cotton I would risk a cap full of bleach and a 40 degree wash asap...........

Thanks all. I have seen Dr Beckmann in the supermarkets.... should I leave the stuff damp till I can get some tomorrow or will it be OK to dry?

Saundra, I live in Leeds and 'pink' whites would be noticed. I ain't taking the chance. :) :P

I'd leave it damp, but am not sure of the science of it :)

Damp it is then... and an early trip to ASDA for some of Dr Beckmann's magic powders. ;)

I've used the Dr Beckmann's whcih Shell posted about with good results.
Now I put one or two Colour Catchers into mixed colour washes - we don't have many white clothes, apart from Tom and Joe's school shirts, to warrant doing a whites only wash. Those little sheets always seem to catch whatever dye is coming out of clothes.
