I'm being a grumpy old woman!

Postby Osc » 22 May 2013, 12:22

I'm fairly easy going but sometimes I get pushed too much. So today, I've been complaining!

(1) First was to Blackpool Airport - their security staff are the absolute pits, jobworths, rude and petty (I think I've mentioned this before), they have been like that for years. We all understand the need for aviation security but there is a way to treat the passengers and they have not yet learned this. Two of our friends returned from a weekend's dancing last Monday and were really put through the mill. I was so annoyed that I left a message on the airport's FB page and this morning I was invited to email them, which I have done. I've itemised several incidents experienced by us or friends in the last couple of years. We have two more trips planned this year, and having to go through their departure security hangs over you all weekend - even thought we always have everything the way it should be, you never know what they might pick on.

(2) This morning I went for the paper to the local shop, there was a little table outside with one of those flipping collectors, do you get them in England? Anyway, she was collecting for the Irish Lung Foundation.......and was standing beside the table smoking :o :o I said to her that it was ironic that she was smoking considering the charity for which she was collecting..her reply was "Yes I know but....". I didn't wait to hear what the "but" was. I was really annoyed and phoned the Irish Lung Foundation when I got home. The nice woman on the phone asked if I was going that way again would I get the number from the girl's id and send it to her, but she thought she knew who it was from my description, and said once the identity is confirmed, the girl won't be collecting for them again.

Just call me Mrs. Meldrew ;)

I'm amazed at the smoker too

I don't blame you for complaining about the airport security either. Yes, we know it's a necessity these days but it shouldn't be done in such a way that it can overshadow your enjoyment of a weekend.

Agree with osc. I complain if we don't get good service.
Going through security at Heathrow before flying to America in April, the woman security person checking Mrs.e put her hand inside her skirt to check her knickers at the back. First time this has happened.
Have got an email from National Express. Sent a letter saying that the very good service by two members of staff at Southampton coach station should be recognised.

That's interesting cruiser, they did that to Mr Osc when we came through Blackpool last month, first time too. I hope she asked Mrs.e before doing it, the guy doing to Mr. Osc did sort of say what he was doing, but Mr. Osc didn't really know what he meant until he did it  However, he never went near the crotch area at all, so there could have been stuff concealed there, if they want to get really (even more) picky.

Yes, I always like to praise where praise is due too.

Update - nothing from Blackpool yet. However, apparently the Irish Lung Foundation rang the local shop and the manager went out to speak to the collector. Don't know what was said, but she packed up and left.
