Good morning Friday

Postby meriad » 27 Jun 2025, 07:15

Hello all and good morning

Haven't been the first to post in quite some time :-D
A day off work for me today - yay!!! I'm having a relaxed morning and will then head out to do some grocery shopping before coming home to do a relatively deep clean. The house is a mess and my niece is arriving tomorrow for 2 nights. A cool start to the day, but it's expecting to warm up nicely during the day. Might be meeting up with Nadine a bit later this afternoon.

Have a lovely day all x

Morning Ria, morning everyone

Cool at the moment, but expecting the heat to ramp up.

Cleaning for me too, early, before the heat hits, then we'll be in the pool.

I have a furry throat, hoping it won't come to anything. Just anointed Grumpy with his cream of the morning, deep heat this time. The house stinks

Might have a stab at cooking later, might just be salad

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all, it’s mostly cloudy here but dry. I’m off to mobility class in a while, usual tidying around first. Edward has gone to play golf. No plan for the rest of the day, although I need to phone our bank internet people as we are both having problems with the app. No dancing tonight, the hall is not available. I’ll start getting things organised for our two-night “holiday” in Miss Osc’s house while they go to London on Sunday for two nights.

Afternoon all, it’s dull and breezy but quite warm.

I walked George first thing and for once it wasn’t humid which made a lovely change. The before 1pm Amazon delivery has arrived as has the Tesco delivery, still no frozen produce though. The driver said that it’s only in the last couple of days that the fridges have been working for them to be able to delivery milk etc. No doubt that with the temperatures rising over the weekend the problems will go on for a while longer yet, they fail every year when the weather is hot.

Not much else planned today. Need to go to my Dad’s tonight to take his shopping and I’m bracing myself because he’s mentioned wanting to be shown how to text. He’s had various mobiles over the last 20 or so years and hasn’t mastered texting on any of them despite all of us sitting down and showing him each time he’s got a new phone, even writing out step by step instructions, yet none of us have ever received a text from him. Add in the fact that he has an Android phone and it’s horrible to use, I’ll be looking for either a brick wall to bang my head up against or a pint of vodka come 8.30pm.
He’s also talking about getting a new TV, because he’s bored with the silver coloured frame on his. He doesn’t need a new TV, his is perfectly fine and he can’t even use it for what it’s fully intended as it’s a smart TV but he doesn’t have internet.
A new TV will just lead to phone calls at 10pm asking if we can go around and see what’s going on with it. Best he sticks with what he knows.

Have a good day all :)

Jo, I have a smart TV, but it is set in "dumb" mode, No Prime, Netflix. Roku or the likes, just Freeview.

Turn it on, go to the channel guide / list, pick one, watch... simple.

As for Android texts, you just go to messages, hit + and the keypad comes up - type in and press send or "done". It's no different from iCrap.

Even I can do it. :P :P :P

Afternoon troops :D

A very warm day here - seems it's warming up again! SW first thing, then a cuppa with Em, Dave and Mick at the cafe across the road. Doreen's for a while afterwards, and since getting home I've put a towel wash out on the line, and thrown together a feta salad for later.

Ria, I hope you and your niece have a lovely time together :) xx

Hope your furry throat comes to nothing, Jan xx

Enjoy your day out Cruiser :) xx

Apps are great Osc - when they work! xx

Afternoon Jen :) xx

Yikes, Jo, I hope this evening doesn't prove too frustrating! I think Mick and I are lucky, in that D is fairly good these days with her tablet and phone xx

Frank :P  xx

Love to all xxx

Frank, the problem isn’t so much with the TV but he has a DVD player and two Freeview digital recorder boxes connected to it, and he won’t upgrade to a single box with a larger capacity, and a new TV would mean a new menu, new remote, new way of accessing his recordings etc and then that all becomes our problem.

As for the phone, it’s pointless trying to explain anything to him. We’ve tried so many times over the years. You’ll be there explaining and showing him how to do something and he’ll start talking about something completely random and unrelated, like how much he paid for a loaf that week or where Diane and Ian next door have gone on holiday.

Love the sound of a feta salad Kaz!

Feta, mixed salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper and a lovely low-fat French dressing I bought in M&S. Really fresh and delicious 8-)

That does sound awkward, Jo. :? xx
