The good and bad of Portugal

We got to the centro de Saude at 2.10. They ask you to be there 20 minutes before, no idea why, so being rebels, we got there only 10 minutes early

And then waited for an hour

Appointments are for 20 minutes and we wondered what the lady in front of us was doing, as we saw her go past the waiting room, we thought on her way out.

An hour later, she went passed again and told Senor Keith to go in.

I went with him, as he is getting a little deaf. We saw Drª Ana. Told her the tale of woe with his face. And wondered why he waited so long to be referred, when last time, it was a few weeks. Apparently, the lovely dermatology doctor had died, late last year and all appointments were cancelled.

She shouted for one of the nurses, who took a few photos of the mess on his face, asked if we were happy to go to Lisbon. We agreed, she got the nurse to take a few photos, sent them off and said he should here within 30 days for an appointment.

She then printed off a little map of the centre of Lisbon, highlighted the train station we need to go and also the hospital.

She also did a prescription for a rake of blood and urine tests, as the oncology hospital will want current bloods.

As regards his knee, he has to go the Beja urgençia, say he's in agony and they will drain the fluid out

So that's us sorted for a little while.

Half an hour later, we were out.

And went for a couple of beers, as you do
