That’s a shame Jen but at least he’s going to be somewhere familiar and isn’t going to have find his feet in a new place at a really intensive period of his education. I wish him all the best, what is he going to be studying?

Best wishes for Elijah going forward, Jen - sometimes these things work out for the best xx

Slight change of plan.

Steve's truck broke down the other day and was taken off to Ourique. It's now fixed, so I'm taking him in to collect it, dropping Grumpy off at the bar on the way ;)

Might turn out better for Elijah, in the long run Jen xx

Also agree - and he'll hopefully know most of the other kids in his year group, so no additional pressure of peer groups forming / making friends etc

Ria, that's a big shock about the redundancy but good to see that you are already looking and have plans. Good luck xxx

Q. Can you leave early if something comes up and will they still pay full redundancy if you do? Worth checking.

Jen, I am six and two threes about staying or moving. One of mine stayed and sailed through. The other moved and.... sailed through. There is no right or wrong. If Elijah has it then it won't really matter where he is being taught.

Thanks Frank - will take all the good luck wishes I can
I've actually known since the end of June that my role was being made redundant. But a few personal issues beginning July hit me a lot harder than I thought they would and I just wasn't able to sort things in my head; but head is now clear(er) and it's onwards and upwards.

Not really, no... it's a double edged sword in a way. The company closes its doors 30th September and effective 1st October the people moving to the new company will start with them, and the rest of us, excepting me, will officially be unemployed. My termination contract states I will remain employed and stay on to close the office, ie totally empty the office and have it taken back to bare walls and floors ready for handback to the landlord; and no idea how long that takes. So for now my employment end date will be a date agreed between both parties, somewhere between 01 October but no later than 08 December when the lease ends.

Yes, I can understand that... somebody has to be there to turn off the lights and lock the door one last time. At least you are informed and can plan and pass that info on to your lucky new employer.
