As you will see on the Cafe board, I am now back.

It has cost me £30.00 which I consider well worth having someone with expertise to install the drivers and get the printer working correctly.

I wish you only had to plug two cables into the back of the computer.

I do not use Wi Fi.

Well worth it if you can't cope, and not a bad deal. It is worth having a techie you know and can trust.

As for the cables: I don't use Wi-Fi and there are only two on the printer; one for the mains electricity and one to a USB port on the computer. I like "simple".

My printer is connected to the network. It only has two cables. One for power and one for network.

Here is the difference. My home has 5 mobile phones, 2 tablets and at least 10 different physical and remote devices. All can print on that printer. I also get quite a lot of guests. When they connect to the wifi they can print to the printer. Boarding passes, ferry tickets etc if needed.

It is the concept of simple. In my scenario a printer connected to one PC is both extremely complicated to use and totally useless.

When my grand- daughter come to see me in November, I will ask her to connect the printer using WiFi. She uses my WiFi on her laptop as she
can work from home.

To be honest I wouldn't bother. Now that things are working fine on USB just leave it. You will gain absolutely nothing by going Wi-Fi.

However, if you are determined to screw things up, make sure that your grand daughter does a thorough restore point and backup before proceeding. It might save you another £30, or more, when it all goes wrong.
