Another Scam

Postby cruiser2 » 18 Jun 2024, 07:19

I got a text message to say EVRI had been unable to deliver a parcel.
I could have it re-delivered by paying 79p giving my credit card details. I just deleted it

There is a lovely lady who delivers parcels in this area. If Iam not in she would leave it with a neighbour.

Not seen this before.
So watch out.

Good advice Cruiser. I got a text this morning from our regular courier DPD saying they would be delivering something today. They are very reliable so I did wonder - we are expecting something but when I ordered, it said it was coming by post. Rather than following the link on the text, I went on to their website and checked there and it does seem genuine.

Osc, I think the post often uses DPD for delivery of larger items - not just ParcelForce; so that would make sense

That’s what I always do, Osc, check on their website or app - never through an email link!

Thanks for the heads-up, Cruiser.

Cruiser, I am glad you just deleted.

The 79p thing is similar to the Amazon Prime scam where the claim is that they want to repay your registration fee but they need your details. The thing is if they know your registration details and a payment has been made then they already know your bank details so the refund could be made automtically.

They don't, because you never registered, that's why they tempt people with this "free money" refund but once they are in you are screwed.

BTW the law states that delivery is the responsibility of the seller. If something goes wrong it is between them and the courier to sort it not the customer.
