S was saying that she facebooked one of her friends (who is a neighbour) when she got home and he heard the explosion.

He lives just down the lane from us, on the completely opposite side of the valley.

If he heard it, it sure went with a bang!

He's on his way home.

He's got to go to Northern General tomorrow to see the plastic surgeon at the burns department although from what I can gather it is more of a cautionary thing than them wanting to have anything done. He is going to get his dad to take him as I am stuck here with the four girls.

Off to put the kettle on.

Oh Debs how dreadful for you both, but at least take comfort in that he was not killed as he could have been. Certainly sounds like someone threw petrol at the bonfire to liven it up. Don`t people know that petrol vapour is explosive? :(

Your thread title is such a restrained understatement! I'm so pleased he is on his way home. That sounds like quite a bang! Buy a lottery ticket, it's definately his lucky day.
Sounds like you need a good strong cuppa this morning. (((Deb)))

OMG Debih - how frightening for you all :o Someone up there was watching over you, it could have been so much worse. You will all go through various stages of shock, so just be kind to yourselves for a few days.

Oh Poor man, and poor you, what a terrible sock, and how sensible he was to clear the area of children, good man the catastrophe could have resulted in carnage had he not done so..
ALL LOVE AND GOOD WISHES FOR HIS SPEEDY RECOVERY DEBIH.. whoever it was who put the petrol on the fire must be in shock on seeing the results of his folly..
