In contrast, the next book in the Comoran Strike series, "The Ink Black Heart" is a concept book involving, as a substantial part of the text, numerous simultaneous chat room conversations laid out side-by-side.
Mrs O quickly gave up on it - I struggled to the end of it, but I can't say I'd recommend it. The plot's OK, but at over 1,000 pages, it's very difficult to read.
We have both just finished reading "The Retreat" by Sarah Pearse - her second novel.
It's a classic "party trapped on an island (off the Devon Coast) with a killer on the loose" type of thriller, but it's superbly written and very gripping!
