Hello. I said HELLO!

Postby Workingman » 09 Dec 2023, 11:57

"OK, there's no need to shout."

"I wasn't shouting!"

"Well it sounded li..."

"That's because you've just had your ears done."

And so I have, just in the last hour or so, and what a difference it has made. I can even hear the clock ticking.

I though that I was going deaf, and my balance was all over the place. I was persuaded to have a hearing test and from that my ears needed de-waxing and it has done the job. I can even stand on one leg again! Going back on the 16th to have a full audiology test just to make sure everything else is working properly.

Used to be free on the NHS, but I think you have to pay for it now. Same with chiropody.

Ossie out doctors don't remove wax now but a nurse does it privately and charges between £40/£60
That's not good in my opinion

Saundra. To go NHS is easy, it's what I did.

Do an online hearing test on a laptop, tablet or desktop. Make sure the speakers are in stereo mode.

The results are instant and if hearing loss is suspected you then get an email with a form letter to print off and send / take to the surgery or you can forward the email.

Wait a few days then ring for a telephone consultation quoting the form letter.

When the doctor phones they will do a few tests and ask questions and they will request a referral for you. You will then get an email / letter with login details for nhs.uk/referrals and you pick an audiologist to see. You will now be in the system.
