Somebody rings up claiming to be a police officer and demands that you withdraw substantial funds for "safekeeping" and change them to Euros because your account has been 'compromised', A courier will then collect the funds you hand over - to go who knows where!

No, you say.

Neither would I, but people have fallen for it to the tune of £156,000 in the last couple of weeks.

Honestly, some people should not be allowed out of bed without a minder present.

Are****les, yes, but who are these so-called 'vulnerables'? It is often made out that they are old.

Well I am over 70 and I am not 'vulnerable', but then I am not an idiot. There are 20 and 30 year olds who are idiots and therefore must be 'vulnerable'

Often people who have some level of dementia WM, sadly that can apply to both old and young, they are most definitely vulnerable.

If I had a phone call allegedily from the bank, I either put the phone own, or sy i will go into the branch and sort it out.

As mentioned in a previous post I was scammed on one of my credit cards. Payments stopped by credit card company and new card wioth different number isued.

I will be 89 next month and am very careful about my financs, debit and credit cards. I like usingb cash whenever possible.

Cruiser, I have a pre-pay credit / debit card that I use for most normal purchases. The only money on it is what I pay onto it and I then run it down as I shop. I do a top-up as and when.

My normal bank debit card stays at home. I will not use phone apps for any money transactions. I do not have any credit cards.

I don't 'do' phone calls. If someone claims to be from X bank or Y insurance I put the phone down and ring whoever on a known number.
