Mental Health

Tomorrow was (I think) mental health day. This I know because my local TV news station told me. Thay also told me that "We are all worried about our mental health".
Are we? I hadn't noticed.
I think most people who don't watch the news seem to be quite cheerful.

There seems to be lots of worry about the mental health of young people.
This seems to be a crisis that the state has created for itself.
Years ago PSE (Personal, social and emotional) was introduced into schools. (I think then now call it PHSE). Teachers were told they had to make sure that children were OK emotionally. (I always thought that was a parents job?).

MrsC said at the time that it was going to cause problems. Making an impressionable young person focus constantly upon themselves? Not a good idea. To constantly ask if they were all right, how they were feeling? It makes them self conscious, questioning themselves.
Also all the fuss about the mental health of children draws attention. If you are a child who wants attention, you can certainly get it by telling a teacher that you are "Struggling with your mental health".
In other words all this attention on curing a problem isn't curing it - it is making the problem worse.
