Morning all :)

Ally, that fresh feel makes all the difference :) xx

Good luck at the eye doc’s, Jan xx

You definitely deserve a nice day Jen xx

Hope you get your parcel sorted out Osc xx

Morning Cruiser xx

Morning Crommers xx

Jo, Ria, it’s so expensive isn’t it? Even the insurance is - Fraggle’s has gone up to £80 per month, after his cruciate and tooth problems :? xx

Say it hammered down here too, earlier! Sunshine now xx

We’re out in the Quays with Fraggle, having a cuppa and about to walk him round the water. We looked at a new car yesterday, a 5 year old BMW. Hoping to part exchange with our Zafira, but if they don’t give us a good offer we’ll have it anyway as Mick will sell it himself if necessary on WBAC or Autotrader. It’s perfect for us, a hybrid, and we should be able to charge it partly from the solar panels, so we’ll need to put a charging point on the garage wall. Round to D’s in a bit, for some lunch.

Have a good day everyone :) xxx

Crommers, I know BUT when we had Pepper and she had a spinal stroke, the cost of her care would have been around 4k if we hadn’t had insurance  :?

Bill’s is £74 a month.

His cataract surgery was £4800 and insurance covered most of it, and it gave him his happy life back.
Of course, without insurance we’d have dug deep and paid it but it would’ve been a huge chunk to pay out.
It did mean though that we maxed out his insurance at the start of the new insurance year so had to fund any examinations, his insulin and eye drops ourselves until it renewed in March this year.

At one of his early eye appointments he was prescribed some drops for pressure and the vet said they had some available but they were £50+ a bottle (2.5ml!!) but as they were a human medication we would be able to get them from a pharmacy with a vet prescription for much cheaper.
We did that and got two bottles for £9.82 (I’ve just checked, still got the prescription in his folder) from the pharmacy on our estate.

I give him his insulin via a Vetpen, a cartridge lasts a week and I just screw a new needle on the end each time he has a dose. It’s less of a faff than using syringes. We were paying nearly £40 for 100 needles (50 days worth), they were Vetpen branded ones and this was an online price so cheaper than buying through the vet.
Then I discovered that there’s an identical needle available for humans which also fits the Vetpen and I now buy those and pay less than £5 for a box of 100.

Berlimey Jo

We had three eyes done for less than that

All done and dusted. Eye doc more than happy with both eyes, perfect vision in one eye for distance and almost perfect for close up stuff, other one, not so good.

But I have ordered two pairs of readers for 62€  Which is complete bargain for here, such a shame we'll have to go down to the Algarve again next week

Perfect drive down, hardly anything around, just hope there weren't any hidden speed cameras though, Grumpy was happy around 120 :o

Really warm now, so a lazy afternoon :D

Kaz and Jo, I had no idea how high the vet's charges are now.

Jo, it's certainly a big financial commitment these days! We would have dug deep for Pepper too, if we'd had to.
