Just to be clear. CP is not suggesting that we break the law, he is not condoning it, he is asking if it might be necessary to change things, as per the Suffragettes, Mandela and the ANC, Gandhi and others did. The current protests are not working.

He does have a point, IMO. Also, he has support from many farmers who want to be able to control pests and farm more organically. They are not the same as agricultural workers, who might have different ideas. A tough call, but at least he makes it.

I look at Just Stop Oil and wonder WTF? Oil makes the world go round, especially with the economic model on which we all depend. Our homes are full of the stuff, from paints to carpets to "air" fresheners and food packaging. It lubricates the machinery to produce just about everything we use, including windmills producing renewable energy and making EV milk floats work. If we wear clothes made from acrylic, polyester and nylon (we all do) we are dressed in oil. Most of our phone, tablet and laptop cases are oil based. The world needs oil, we cannot live without it. That does not mean we have to burn it, but we do have to accept that it plays a huge part in our everyday lives - what are the alternatives?

And even if we get unlimited nuclear fusion tomorrow we will still need oil, and we will still continue to trash the planet's climate and environments for generations to come... it's what we do with our present numbers.

PHEVs: 11,702 (up 79%) and 8.1% market share
Total: 34,712 (up 85%) and 24.1% market share

New plug-in car registrations year-to-date:

BEVs: 175,975 (up 38%) and 16.1% market share
PHEVs: 73,857 (up 28%) and 6.8% market share
Total: 249,832 (up 35%) and 22.8% market share

When I say that the statements here are totally out of touch, I mean it. You literally have no idea what is going on in the industry but you are force fed BS by the press and the media depending on who paid the most in the last month.

This is an adoption S curve.

Why haven't the people in the UK bought even more EV? Simply put they are not yet available.

So enough. It is coming, all this politics is not going to stop it. Batteries are becoming cheaper, the material is becoming more plentiful.

As for the rest? Honestly I don't care. We are going to hell with the accelerator stuck to the floor. Suck it up. I've told my kids and grandkids. It is now their problem to solve. I'll be dead. Although if I could come back from the grave and say "I told you so" I would.

Benefits of market forces and S curves. This week I installed my 37kw pellet burning boiler. It cost me €3,500 in 2021, I got it for €3,000 off. 3 years before #1 son sneaked in under the Scottish scheme as one of the last in the country and got his pellet burning boiler installed. £17,000.

Nice try, but the government has "mandated" that by Jan 2024 22% of all vehicles sold will be electric, not MHEV Diesel, not MHEV petrol, not PHEV and not HEV, but "electric". For 2023 it is currently about 16.4%. The claim is that the % will rise year on year to 80% by 2030. Is that why the ban on ICEs has been pushed back, because It will not be met? Shouldn't it have been been 100% by 2030?
