My mind has gone blank..!!

Postby Ally » 03 May 2013, 19:52

I've just come back from a bike ride..nothing amazing about that but I spotted some of these and I cannot for the life of me remember what they're called.
I know they're weeds and can remember blowing on them as a child to make the fluffy bits float...but what are they called? It's driving me mad.

that is a fab video - fascinating. And quite interesting because there is a post going round on FB at the moment:

With this sunny spell I'm sure you've all noticed all the dandelions popping up in your lawns. With the late spring this year these are a lifeline for struggling Bee Colonies around the county so PLEASE don't rush to dig them out or mow them off just yet. FYI they rich in nectar and the amazing bright orange pollen is used to feed the (hopefully) growing number of brood.

So a good excuse to have a lazy weekend vs hauling out the mower :)

Aaah...this is why I was confused.

I know dandelions are yellow but I'm positive when they get to the 'fluffy' stage we knew them (in Scotland anyway) as something else. :D
