I know of a young man whose mental health has been completely ruined, by overuse of cannabis while an adolescent. It can damage young brains, I think :(

Absolutely agree Kaz.

By coincidence MrsC has been in the town centre today and seen a couple of "zombies" staggering around, off their heads on something, probably Spice. Legalise all drugs and it will only get worse, imo.

It appears that none of us want to legalise drugs, and that probably goes for the population in general.

However, none of us seem to know what to do about them.

My option would be to have minimum sentencing with no discretion for the police or the courts to be more lenient. Anything over, say 30g (1oz) for personal use and you get hit - minimum 200 hours cleaning streets / picking litter after 6 pm - then upwards of that for multiple offences. Three and out = time. If producing or dealing you do time even for a first offence.

Actually instead of sweeping streets I was thinking of building the new prisons.... At least the founds, walls and structures. Perhaps the internal cladding and finish after the wiring is in, perhaps not as that is somewhat sensitive.

But that's my thought. Make them build the place of incarceration they will wind up in if they don't learn.

Then I'd use technology and AI to reduce the required staffing in the prisons. So the prison system can expand to the required size if they keep on dealing destruction of people's lives.

I'm also a believer in punishing the use. If they were not paying for the drugs in the first place then it would not pay for the distribution and the money tree would wither on the vine.

But that's just me. I never smoked and never really needed something "extra" to make my live "interesting". I always found that living life was more than enough for me without trying to make it even more bizarre. Then again I don't drink much either.

If you want to stop drugs then the only way is to choke it off at the source of the money. Spot fines and community service for any use.

There seems to be some acceptance in this society now that Cannabis is somehow totally benign and won't do anything bad. This is not true and there should be a solid stand against it.

Then again, when the reporters got into hollyrood after it was rebuilt for the Scottish assembly they found traces of cocaine on every single surface.

With this level of drugs use in the politicians we'll never get rid of drugs.

Wasn't that also the case in Westminster - both Houses?

If the law makers are also law breakers we have no chance.

I only recall hollyrood but I have no doubt that Westminster would be the same. It is a recreational drug for people with money and no respect for the law. That about sums up both houses these days.
