GB (fake) News, eh?
Factually corret, but....
When I had the shop I had to pay to cash a customer's cheque. I also had bank charges for cash deposits to the night safe and so on. It's part of running a business and nothing to do with going cashless.
Depending upon how the business operates there could be monthly or per transaction charges, but they are minuscule when it comes to tips. There have always been bank charges one way or another.
If you do not like service charges, which should go to all staff and not just the waiters as they are all part of the experience, then leave coins.
We are decades away from going totally cashless - if ever.
