Strange weather!

Postby Workingman » 08 Jul 2023, 14:43

The Ashes Test at Headingly has been rained off all day . The ground is about 2.5 km away as the crow flies and apart from a bit of thunder at around 10:30 this morning it has been partly cloudy, sunny and dry where I am.

Seeing the same at Silverstone where parts of the track are wet and others are dry.

We had thunder, lightning and very heavy rain showers this morning. We'd be about 20 miles south east of Headingley. Lighter now, no rain.

I'm glad I picked a "Billy Big Boots" club with a covered stand for this afternoon's footie fix rather than my usual recreational field. :D

We had two intense downpours in the second half and the hour's drive home through minor floods and extremely wet roads was not the pleasantest....... :?

We have just been watching a spectacular lightning display. Flashes lighting up the sky from side to side, plus forked lightning too.

It seems to have passed over going north, but we still have the heavy rain.

We had thuder and lightning and heavy rain. Then brilliant sunshine.

The showeres were heavy but only lasted about five minutes. Glad I was inside watching the big drops of rain hit the windows.
No need to water the plants. Not sen any mention of floods on the news.

All weekend we've had lovely sunny weather one minute, then storms with tumultuous rain the next. It came down so hard last evening that the road was running like a stream

Yesterday was a nicer day than forecast.
Saw pics of the Aston Expressway flooded on Saturday night though, that’s the A38M which is one of the roads off Spaghetti Junction.
