The plumber has been.

He is going to fit a mixer valve in the cupbooard under the sink. This is like the ones fitted in care homes to stop old people being scalded.
It will be out of sight, easy to fit, not alterations to the tiles.

May be two weeks before it is done. But it is not desperate ands will be much cheaper than a new unit.
