So Humza it is. Bureaucrats rule.

I'm not surprised Forbes ran him close, though; she comes across as an archetypal Scots Nat - a flame-haired, Wee Free nippy and I would have thought very much the masses' favourite.

The masses didn't vote. Only the party members. Just like when Boris was voted in, a very small proportion of the population decided who it would be.

I'm wondering what they are trying to achieve with this vote? Is it the best person for the job? Or is is an attempt to leverage the margins? Reality is that non White Scottish residents are 3.98% of the population and going for a non ethnic leader is not really representative. In fact that hasn't helped Labour in the slightest. Possibly the opposite with SNP votes sliding to Tory party.

One to watch. Personally I have no issue with it. But I'm not the bulk of the population and anyone with a vote for this needs to think about the party and whether the leader will work for the party or against it during the elections.

This is the bloke who fell off his scooter on camera.

The continuity candidate with Sturgeon's blessing.

The continuity being the continued failure of Scotland's education and health service, the continuing increase in drug and alcohol related deaths and the continued non-delivery of the two ferries. Oh, and the continuing mystery about where £600,000 disappeared to.

So the Sturgeon supporters will be happy; but this bloke strikes me as being a prize idiot, so his honeymoon period will not be a long one.

So the SNP members did a "Truss" and went for a numpty who is not in favour with the general public. Plenty of cloth for the other parties to work with in the coming years - if he lasts that long.

There is always the angle that if they are going to crash and burn they might as well have someone to blame....
