BB Cream

Postby Fugitive » 31 Jan 2013, 16:45

BB Cream means Blemish, Balm and/or Base (I think) I like an illuminated look rather than flat coverage and usually mix an illuminating moisture cream with a tiny bit of base.

Today I saw Garnier BB Cream with £2.50 off, used the tester and liked the look and feel of it. Garnier calls it Miracle Skin Perfector as it evens tone, boosts glow, blurs imperfections, smooths fine lines, 24 hour hydration with SPF 15 UV protection. I like all those things! So I bought the Light shade as the Medium was too dark. It's a daily all-in-one cream.

There was one for sensitive skins and another for mature but I bought the ordinary one because I wanted the illumination and the packaging on the other two didn't make that very clear. There's also an under-eye roll-on for dark shadows which I tried and looked like it works well.

It is lovely. Very light, got the even tone and a healthy glow.

I've got some Fugi, got the free sample and liked it but it was a few months before I bought some. I like it too :)
It doesn't cover the rosacea of course but I do feel with that and a concealer I look fairly normally 'bare-faced'.

Beauty balm I think it stands for, but same difference ;)

I like to mix a tiny bit of High Beam, the illuminator that Benefit make, into my foundation. I use a Dior one (Forever Skin) and have done ever since I had a makeover, and couldn't believe how good my skin looked with it  :D I know it's expensive but my friend who works on the Dior counter gives me her discount (shhh!) and I also get my Debenhams Beauty Card points on it too 8-)

I love this, I have the Garnier one too after trying a free sample. I can't go without make up so this is perfect for when I go to the gym and I love it in Summer too.

I am seriously thinking of trying one for the summer. Generally I use a tinted moisturiser that Body Shop make, Tinted Glow Enhancer, but they have discontinued it and I have to get it from eBay now

There are loads of other brands that do BB creams but the Garnier one was cheap enough to take the risk in case I didn't like it. I can't wear a full base/foundation any more as no matter how light weight it says it is I feel caked-up wearing it. A few years back I had rosacea on my cheeks and know I tried to cover it with too much make-up.

A light touch with these products would have been so much better.

Yes, I think there's a BB cream to suit every purse now, quite a number of companies seem to have introduced one.

I can't go out without make up but I like it to look natural and not heavy so this is ideal.

My skin can't tolerate any Garnier products. Diflower I see that you have rosacea - I have that too. After another recent flare-up I had to go onto aqeous cream and no makeup at all for a while. It seems to have settled down again now, but I am sticking to Thalgo sensitive products. They are expensive but their cream and serum are the only ones I can use without problems.

Thanks for that Rodo I've made a note of the name.

This is the stuff I have a big pot of
http://www.eternalskincare.com/

It's good in that it certainly doesn't aggravate the rosacea, but it doesn't 'do' a lot for my (dry) skin either! Actually I am impressed though, as I recently had a patch of excema on my leg and tried it on that, and within less than a week it's almost gone. It looks quite expensive but not when you look at the size of the pot.
They now have a moisturiser in a tube, I might see if I can get a sample.
