The road is closed.

There was a huge water leak, a small fountain, so Yorks Water had to do an emergency repair at short notice. The trench they had to dig stretched across the road and involved heavy excavating equipment, a new pipe, and various other bits of equipment.

Now some residents are complaining of the "inconvenience" to their comfortable lives. Their biggest gripe is that they were not told! Poor dears, I suppose they would have preferred it for the road, and maybe some houses, to flood. It is such a chore to park up and walk 30 metres or so to get home or to take the sognposted detour.

Perhaps they need to employ a certified fortune teller so they can warn that failures are pending and to get their shopping in before they have to close the road????

The road closure is just after a left turn from the main road - the 'road closed' and diversion signs are well signposted. Hop to the next let turn (70 metres), go left again at the T junction, then take another left and approach from the opposite direction.

It's not rocket science.

Some people are just too lazy to even think though.

Our local fb page is forever full of people asking if the chip shop is open, or when the kids go back to school - this is people with kids who attend the school!

Or even invest 60 seconds in a web search.

Many drivers think they must go the shortest route. Have met drivers going the wrong way in a one way street. I make them back up.. I don't mind
going a few extra yards when there are road works. There are temporary traffic lights undera railway bridge near where I live. Already seen cars
trying to go through on RED.
