Crommers, your oven .....

How are you getting on with that replacement element?
We have been quoted a further 14 weeks for delivery, and we're not confident even of that.
So we're going to go for a new cooker. Our existing one is only 3 years old. :|

Ours wasn't very old either, about 5 or 6 years, and an Indesit! :cute:

Funny you should mention that!
Mr Bunting left our house about 25 minutes since after fitting a new element, cost £75 all in, which included his first visit.

Three years old! :o :o

Blimey. Our oven is a cheap Hotpoint which must be about seven or eight years old.

Mr Bunting said that finding parts has been a nightmare since the pandemic.

Glad you got it sorted, Crommers. :D

Ours is a Belling. Supposedly a British manufacturer, but as the replacement element purportedly had to come from Singapore (!!), hardly an advert for the make.

John, our service guy, said exactly what your Mr Bunting said. He also said, old appliance or new, these elements can fail at any time.
I suspect the supply chain issues, at the end of the day, are down to the Chinese and their Covid problems, but it's certainly leaving a sour taste here.
Probably look at getting a Bosch or something.

I'm banned from going with Don to shop for white goods ever again.

Last time we wanted a new oven the bloke asked what do you have at the moment.

I replied, a white one.

Buntings recommended a Beko to us. They do a model called the aeroperfect.
Parts are available, they are a good oven and you get two shelves with them; other brands generally give you just the one.

Ah, well, we've not had good experiences with Beko or their upmarket brand Blomberg. The last fridge/freezer we had was a Blomberg and that totally failed when it was around 4 years old.

It's very, very difficult to find a reliable manufacturer these days.
