Birth rates are falling....

... or flat lining in many countries. Unfortunately not fast enough to slow global population and help save the planet.

But get this. Economists, businesses and politicians are crying in their cups because it could hurt "growth". Yes, they want to reverse the process so that they can take up ever more finite resources so that some of them can put an extra zero or two in front of the decimal point of their already outrageous fortunes.

They are the reasons why we will never get population reduction nor net zero carbon emissions. Every day it looks more and more likely that Mother Nature will have to step in, and when she does none of us will like it.

It's consumerist capitalism, isn't it?
We've touched on it before.
The more people there are, the more goods get consumed. Food, cars, white goods, houses, clothes, furniture etc etc. More of everything gets sold, all things being equal.
This is how the British government gets to boast about it's growth figures - by importing millions of people who if they do nothing else, must at least consume.
Presumably this is why they never mention overpopulation as a problem.
And as for using up the world's resources at a rate of knots, that's a very "unhelpful" thing to be metioning as far as the political class is concerned.

Optimus would solve all their issues for manufacturing (in time), but they don't want it. Because it would leave all the workers it replaces on the dole and not have money to spend on "products" thus shrinking the economy if not resolved.

If you have any interest in it you can watch their 2022 AI day here. It is worth reading the CNET article before watching the AI day otherwise you might dismiss the progress. Tesla built a bot that can autonomously walk onto a stage and makes some small moves in 1 year. Their goal is 3-5 years to a viable and functional robot which can be used in factories in the first instance.

This, if they achieve it, will solve the ever increasing need for human labour in order to grow economies. What it does for the humans left behind? Interesting question.

BTW, if you want to see the stuff where Tesla is really focusing for Optimus, go look through the video for the stuff on actuators.

So, we get rid of humans and replace them with bots. Bots do not need nutrients just electricity and system upgrades every now and then to sustain them - Andoid 103 or IOS 75 sort of thing. Welcome to the dystopian future.

We are kiling ourselves, yet we don't see it. The vast majority on planet Earth struggle to feed themselves. Many of the others only exist to support the elites in non-jobs. They pretend that being a senior account executive (clerk) puts them way above the people producing "things" and makes them ever so important. They are not.

Enough.

Because their parents think it is a good idea to produce 5-10 children. It has to stop at some time or they won't be struggling to feed themselves, they'll just be dying.
