A brainwave or a mad moment?

Postby JanB » 20 Nov 2022, 17:40

We put our furniture the way the previous owner had it, as the tv point is one end and one fire is in the middle of the lounge.

I was sitting, yesterday, having the bend my neck over the sofa, to see the other fire. The one in the fireplace is a pain, as the damper doesn't always work (it's right at the top of the chimney, not easily reachable and Ze Felipe said it was fitted upside down  ) and if you're going to have a fire, it's nice to look at it.

Why don't we move things about, I said?

Dining table down by the big window, get a new tv point in by the freestanding fire, take out the wall light and put a new tv on the wall. Maybe have a chat to Heldar, to see if the stupid pillar is necessary and if not, remove it.

Grumpy having a think. I think it will be brilliant.

Ria and WM will understand better.

I can take photos, if Kaz doesn't mind me sending them to her.

No problem, Jan :)

That all sounds like a plan! We're completely re-jigging our living room at some point soon 8-)

I'll do it tomorrow, thanks Kaz xx

Would like some other input.

We'd have to dig up the floor and get eletric cables moved, but what the heck.

I'm also working on having the shower room re-done, but banging my head against the wall at the moment

I am not keen on wall TVs, but they do create floor space, and in your case, Jan, it gives you more options to shuffle things around. As does having two TV points.

Go for it.

I love the chimney breast, but it's huge for such a small room and like you, dislike wall mounted tv's, but think we can juggle it around for the summer and winter.

Itsounds a good idea.
Would lke to see the photos before and after.

I am in a normal 3 bed house with two rooms downstairs. Some people have made one big room and taken the chimney breast down.

So go for it while you can.
