The BoE did not have a say in The Mad Hatter's (Tory) tea party "economic statement" but it did have to act upon it. Don't blame the BoE. It did it's best to support the unsupportable.

Tory MPs did not create the shambles, either, the government (cabinet of incompetents) lead by Truss did.

The fixed-term parliament act was dissolved in March this year, so it can't be blamed.

I am sensing a sh1t load of deflection here.

Maybe it is because two more years of this mayhem will damage the Tory party for many years to come. I, for one, do not take any pleasure in the damage to the country, economically and societal, that will cause.

Ordinary people did not vote or ask for all this crap, but they sure as hell are going to suffer it.

Even if TRuss goes, the money problems will still exist.
So any new faces in Government will still have to make unpopular changes which will not satisfy everybody.
Whoever controls the purse strings, either the Chancellor or the BoE will have a very stormy ride.

"Slasher" Hunt has reversed almost all of the tax cuts and support for energy bills made in the Truss / Kwarteng mini-budget. It is a statement and admission that those two people, and the Tories, created the current financial mess the country is now in. The damage was not global nor was it down to the war in Ukraine, as was claimed, it was all home grown.

Unfortunately the BoE will still have to raise interest rates more than expected to calm the markets, so we will still have to endure more pain.

Hopefully this will put the ERG / BlueKIP right wing Conservatives out of power for some time and allow for the renascence of the "one nation" Tories most of us can live with.

Nope, ordinary people voted for Boris.

"Interests" wanted rid of him because they couldn't control him. Aided and abetted by Boris haters.

Now we have 2 years of mayhem.

I wasn't aware that Covid was the responsibility of the Tory party. The roots of the inflation rest on the bed of loose money policy during Covid. Something which became a wildfire with Ukraine.

But, hey, you live and learn.

The current mess the government has put us in has sod all to do with The Johnson or inflation.

It is all down to the unnecessary measures in the Truss / Kwarteng mini-budget, measures the have now almost totally been scrapped in an attempt to keep us afloat, but a nice attempt at deflection. Well done.

Living in France you can avoid all the crap we in the UK are having chucked at us and we are not going to forgive or forget.

Looking at today with a microscope does not reveal the future.

Governments are charged with creating the environment for the running of the future economy.

The Boe has already stated that their actions are likely to cause a recession. Actions to keep inflation to an impossible 2% level as if they are in control of world inflation.

The actions by Truss were to avoid this recession. Something which they would be blamed for even though they had no hand in it.

So you tell me. Do you want a recession? I totally understand you won't mind because in a recession your pension won't be impacted so long as inflation is down. All those poor B'stards losing their jobs and their homes? Stuff em, the Boe knows what it is doing and that is futilely attempting to maintain the financial status quo in the middle of a war that is creating an energy crisis.

Don't tell me that because I'm living in France I don't care. Regardless of whether I am actually living in France my income is international and would be if I were living in the UK.

I Care which is why I did not request my Brexit voting forms because I believe that choice was for people who live in the UK and rely on it for their livelihood.

I'm not the one howling that the country should just "take" the recession because it keeps my income stable.

The US decided to do this a different way and GIVE trillions to US companies manufacturing in the US. It is no different to what Truss wanted, hers was just more in line with Tory values than the Democrats of the US and is more effective in the UK economy. Now the EU is chasing the US for a chunk of those trillions claiming unfair trading practise. Something which would have been impossible with the changes Truss wanted to implement.

If you don't understand what us going on don't accuse me of not caring.

My laughing at fools is not because I don't care. It is because fools need to laughed at or they will be taken seriously and fools are far more able to trash the country than sensible people who are ignored.

Witness Brown.

Please do not put words in my mouth. I did not say you did not care, I said that by living in France you were shielded from the shit storm coming our way in the UK, and you are. It's the only thing trickling down at the moment, but it could become a flood.

Also, it was in May 22 that the BoE warned of a recession occurring at about now and lasting till summer 2023. That was under The Johnson's leadership with his resignation over the horizon and still two months away, and even then not assured.

Trussonomics was a hope of engendering growth, instead it did the opposite with the BoE having to step in three times since the mini-budget. It is based on a mixture of tax cuts, sharp reductions in public spending and higher interest rates, and no serious economists thought it would work. They were proved right and so most of it has been dumped.

Where we are now is self-inflicted by the Tories: accept it.

As for pensions.

They are already impacted. In 2021 Sunak cancelled the triple lock and it went back to basic, so pensioners lost 6.3%. He did not reinstate it in 2022 so another 3.7% was lost. It is now rumoured that it will be back to basic again in 2023 so that's another 7.3% about to go.

Over 17% down in three years and some people take great joy in telling us to suck it up because we are ever so well-off. However, unlike workers, we cannot get an other "job" so we are Royally screwed. Do you fancy a piece of that pie. I bet not.

As for reneging on the pensioners' triple lock again:

We may not be able to strike, but we can certainly vote .....
