A surprise holiday

Postby meriad » 02 Sep 2022, 07:56

Because of personal circumstances this year, money is tight for me (more so than usual) and I knew that as nice as it would have been, I'd not be able to have a summer break away which I was (and am) totally fine with. I really love being here at home so not going away, whilst obviously nice (not going to lie), really is not a hardship.

Anyway, a few weeks back a friend of mine called.... long story short; she earns bucket loads more than me; has minimal outgoings etc etc etc. Anyway, she called to say that she really wants to go on a summer holiday to Greece but doesn't want to go on her own again like she has the past few times; so she'd like to invite me and another friend to join her. She'll cover flights and accommodation and we'd just need to sort out any extra bits there, which won't be much as accommodation is half board. Usually my pride wouldn't let me accept but given the year etc I swallowed my pride and have accepted her extremely generous offer - so I'll be off to Greece for 10 days end of September
:Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Not sure how I'll ever be able to make it up to her but I'll figure a way :D

How lovely, what a special friend she is. You are right to accept it in the spirit it is offered, and you’ll have a well-deserved break.

That's really excellent Ria. Just remember that she offered because she wants company so it is partly a two way street.

Have a wonderful time and make. The most of it.

I agree with the others, just accept it in the manner it is offered and remember you are paying her back with your company. My friend just went to Portugal for a 50th with someone who insisted on paying for them all, and she said her and another friend had a kitty and used it to pay for meals for the three of them because its so much cheaper out there
