Beginning of the end for Johnson?

Postby TheOstrich » 05 Jul 2022, 17:57

Sunak and Javid have resigned; I'm not surprised judging by the glum faces at this morning's Cabinet meeting. No-one with any shred of integrity should continue to serve under Johnson.

I wonder if others will follow ......

I think you are right.
An 80 seat majority, a lot of public goodwill and he's wasted both.
The worry for me is that some shocker like Hunt gets the job.

It's looking good for Starmer.

Wow! They are a surprise.

If some others go will Labour be tempted to move a no confidence vote in the government?

Looking at the list who have not openly rebelled there is not a lot of talent in there: Truss, Raab, Rees-Mogg, Kwarteng, not to mention Dorries or Shapps.

Gove, Barclay, Zahawi and Sharma are very quiet.

Is the boil about to burst?

Frank, it was surprising, my jaw dropped!

I do think he'll finally have to go, although I have a mental picture of them having to prise his fingers from the door frame :?

Who on earth is there to replace him :?: *Licking my finger, and holding it in the air* I do believe a GE might be approaching.... .. :geek:

Watching Channel4 news it seems a leadership race is starting to take shape, as the front cover of this Thursday's Spectator will be speculating on the runners. Bring it on!

Nigel Farage had a bet with Michelle Dewberry that Boris Johnson would be gone by 1 July - Michelle pulled him up on it and said he owed her a drink. Looking at the way the wheels are falling off with the two resignations tonight and probably more to follow, it seems Nigel Farage may not be too far out in his prediction.

Nigel and Michelle who?

Are they in government?

Kaz, four junior minions have also gone. Bring on the GE.

There won't be any GE. They know what would happen.
It actually wouldn't surprise me thinking about it if Johnson didn't try to carry on. But it's surely all up.
When your own colleagues start virtually insulting you in public (chancers and snakes though they may be), he's surely done for.
Though looking at the alternatives you just think "Blimey....".

So let's get this right. A man with no more fiscal qualifications than me or you (I have none) is now our chancellor of the exchequer.

"Good game. good game, let's look at the scores on the doors."

Oh look, the winner is Zahawi.

Then we have Barclay as Health Secretary, an insurance clerk and an almost lawyer, no less.

Two bought, only a few to go.

The plot is lost, IMO.
