Flight cancellations, the bad

We are going on holiday to the Dominican Republic in October. Last week BA cancelled our flights. As we are booked with TuI, our daughter, who is arranging it all, spent hours on the phone getting through. However, eventually, we're booked on a TuI flight instead.

It is £800 cheaper! We're staying at the Gatwick Hilton before we fly and we're staying there the night after we arrive back. That is now all paid by the price reduction.

So long as the TuI flight isn't cancelled I'd call that a result.

Great result Suff, we always fly with Tui when booking one of their packages. Have you been to the Dom Rep before? Friends have been, but we've never tried it

BA and EasyJet both really need to get their act together - they used to be two of the more reliable airlines pre-covid, but now..... nothing but delays and cancellations

Yes I'm glad it's sorted too.

For me BA stands for "broken agreement". They overbook business seats by 15% minimum and they even do it on Fridays when they know everyone is flying and people are not going to get a seat. BA is, for me, one of the worst for simply cancelling at the drop of a hat. I recally flying to Sweden from Manchester on Finnair. The storms had disrupted much of southern England and many flights were displaced. As the afternoon wore on there was less and less info from BA until eventually the announcement came "All flights for today are now cancelled, please contact your ticket issuer and arrange to travel another day.

I got the flight to Swede.

EasyJet are another one I have had issues with. EasyJet always flies back to back flights on a Friday and delays can spiral very quickly if anything goes wrong.

I've never been to the Dominican Republic before but several of the people I work with in Canada go there regularly. One is just back. They say it's fantastic and I'm looking forward to going.

Good result but...

My pal, Andy, and a couple of mates went in 2015, to the bay of Ocoa, Azua area. I declined.

They hated it. Nowhere to go, nothing to do 'cept sit on the beach and fry, and a very long dive from the airport to get there.

Cheap drinks and food, yes, but not my type of holiday.
