Stunning weather.

Postby Suff » 20 Jun 2022, 23:09

No, not that type, the type that dumps 1 foot of water in your pol in35 minutes, floods the ground floor of the house and overflows the gutter getting into the powe r that powers your office.

Then, of course, it gets into your mobile and it goes haywire.

The gazebo is on the pool, I'm about to get my air hose out and see if I can blow out the electrics and get the power in my office on again.

I do have to work tomorrow.

The rest of the disaster like the new circular saw will have to wait till I have the time to look at it.

You should be like me on a water meter.

I have a fixed monthly payment no matter how much water I use.
But seriously, I hope everthing dries out soon and get woirking normally without any major problems.

Thanks guys.

I managed to get the power on last night. I unplugged all the drowned stuff I could and brought my air hose up to blow out the one socket I could not. My phone is toast, constant reboot. Just as well I allow android and whatsapp to back up to my gdrive. I've taken back a spare phone I gave to Mrs S and am in process of setting it up. I hauled the gazebo off the pool and dismantled it this afternoon (only got to bed at 07:30). I've checked around the house, the worst of it was downstairs in the utility room (which was getting a new floor anyway) and the eaves of my office. I've managed to haul out a sleeping bag but I carry all of my stuff for my apartment, when working away, under there. Including the TV and microwave. I'll get to dragging that our later.

It is just a matter of emptying, drying and cleaning now. I found the gutter above my office blocked with moss off the roof and a chunk of mirror (no idea where that came from).

Apparently we're in for round 2 this evening and into tomorrow morning thunderstorms and very heavy rain. Around 12 hours of rain. I'm hoping I have the worst of the issues fixed now. The problem is how to deal with it. I need to pump a chunk of water out of the pool before it hits so that it has some room to fill.

Well at least it had the good grace to storm whilst I slept last night. I got up to water in the front hall, not much, and some, but not all, of the flooding I saw before. Two of these are roof projects still to be done. Clearing the gutter protected my room and the utility room was not inundated, probably due to the pillow I removed from the drain just outside that floor.

I've lost outside power, probably due to an inundated light, which I will have to sort today but the outside freezer is now on an extension from the kitchen.

During the storm part of one of my shutters was torn off, however my neighbour pointed out to me that it is on top of the street light on the building next door. I shall take a pic before I try to rescue it.

Hopefully that is it for a while. We are due more rain next weekend but not thunderstorms and way less water. I'll have a chance to fix some of the roof by then.

Inundated phone is vacuum sealed in a bag of rice, we shall see if it is BS or not.
