Oh poor lad!!

My pal at work, her Bischon has gone blind and I know how much that has upset her....he's fine if taken on familiar routes for walks but she feels unable to leave him for any length of time and constantly worries about him when she's out. Poor lad, you'll do your very best for him Jo I know xx

He started drinking much more than usual, and was losing weight.

Thanks all, he’s doing pretty well all things considered.

The vet recommended we buy a blood glucose monitor to check his levels at home. We’ve tried, and we’ve tried and tried and tried. The phrase ‘like getting blood out of a stone’ should really be getting ‘getting blood out of a dog’. We can get a tiny spot of blood but we’ve not yet managed to get enough for a single test after trying daily for three weeks. The vet had him in on Friday for a test though, because we’ve not been able to, and was really pleased with the results so she’s now referring him to a specialist ophthalmology vet in Derby to see if it’s possible for the cataracts to be removed. That appointment should be in the next couple of weeks.
