Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 17 Feb 2022, 06:43

Good morning.

A sunny 22C forecast although I'm sure it'll be more. 8-)

We're going for a bike ride this morning.
Now....I've been cycling for years. Don has always done other sports. It's been great.
Then we both get new bikes. Now all of a sudden the man thinks he's Bradley Wiggins.

We'll see about that after he's done the route I've got planned.

We're getting a Chinese takeaway tonight and watching GB Menu and The Apprentice. I love my weekly fix of Karen Brady's raised eyebrow.

Have a great day.

Morning all :)

He'll need to grow the sideburns, Ally ;) Enjoy the bike ride :D xx

It was a very windy night here, but now it's calm and sunny - the calm before the storm I suspect, as Storm Eunice hits us tonight then tomorrow  Sainsbury's this morning, then Pilates tonight, houseworkey stuff in between.

Take care everyone xxx

Good morning Ally, morning everyone

LOL Ally - be kind to Don and make sure there are at least a few downhills along the way :D Oh and buy him a wig!
Kaz - same here, windy overnight but sunny and calm this morning; although it looks like the wind is starting up again. Enjoy your pilates tonight

Well, here I am, back in the UK. I had a wonderful 5 days visiting mom; bittersweet in a way. She'll be 84 in May and is really doing really well for her age. Still cooks, cleans, drives to the local shop and GP and back (won't go any routes she doesn't know and it's a small(ish) town so all good) etc; she has her routine and generally is happy just pootling about and doing her things. But her short term memory is beyond diabolical, she cannot remember anything unless it's written down. I was due to leave the house at 8am yesterday morning and didn't think to write the time into her calendar; all she had was "Ria leaving". Because of the weather she insisted that she drive me to the station rather than me walk; she remembered that bit but not the time so as a result was up at 5 and dressed by 6. Any plans we (my sister was visiting at the same time) made during the five days we had to repeat literally until the time we were leaving to do what it was that was planned. And the sad thing is she is so very aware of the memory issue. She lives by calendar notes and pieces of paper with details written down so at least that works, but she gets really frustrated with herself and you can see just how much it gets to her. Oh well, we can do what we can from afar and will make sure she has written text / WhatsApp reminders from either my brother, my sister or I for things that we worry about and fingers crossed that will allow her to continue living the independent life she does.

Oh well, for me it's a catch up on work stuff day and then meeting up with Nadine and a friend for said friends birthday lunch. Jeanette used to be the TA that looked after both Thomas and Amelia when they were at junior school and she was their guardian angel there and has since become a friend. Already looking forward to catching up with them both. Then also some shopping to be done to buy two thank you gifts and restock a few things missing in the fridge.

that's about it for me

Hope you all have a lovely day - stay safe and batten down those hatches! xx

Morning everyone

Grey, cloudy and not that warm here. Supposed to be 19C later - we'll see

Enjoy the bike ride Ally, be kind to Don x

Lovely to see you back Ria :Hi: Sad about your mom, but she's doing well on her own, long may that continue.

A bit of a nothing day here. We're going down to see Lucy this afternoon, bit of company for her. Talking to a dog for a walk will do her head in

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all, I was up and out early bringing the car for its repair. I was lucky that I didn’t have to wait long for a train back, it can be frustrating to be walking along to the station and see a train whizzing by. Thankfully I got home before the rain, but I’ll have to do it in reverse, he says it should be ready around lunchtime. Michael and Kellie will be here later, Kellie has a project she needs to finish today so that will keep her busy. I have a bit of a dodgy tum today, so may have a lie down shortly.

Good morning.
It was blowing a hooley earlier on but has calmed down a bit now.
We have taken the car for it's MOT and already have it back. It has passed and it only cost £45, so that's a relief.
Ally, I'm glad you weren't my games teacher! Poor Don, I reckon he's got a shock coming!
That is bittersweet about your mum Ria. Hope your stomach settles soon Osc.
My daughter has been promoted at work, well done that girl.
Shortly I'm off to give her a lift to the train station, they have a works do at the Ivy in Leeds, quite pawsh I believe.
This afternoon I'm cooking a beef stew, yum.
Have a good day all.

Morning all :D

Heavy winds overnight, nice and sunny at the moment.

Lovely to have you back Ria. So sad to hear about your mum, I hope she continues being independent for as long as possible, what a worry for you all.

Chris the electrician came to look at our spotlights, he's given us a list of of the surrounds and bulbs we need plus a drive to fix the disco lights. We'll be popping into City Electricals later, it's only a short detour on our way to Westwood Cross so we'll do M&S afterwards. Providing we can get everything he'll come back Friday to fix it all. Don't know how much the bits will cost, but he's only charging £60 for the work so not too bad at all.

Hope you all have a good day xx
