Back to the vet...

Postby Diflower » 18 Apr 2013, 15:24

:(
Minnie has not been herself today; mainly she's been drooling. She did this while on the steroids, but it can be caused by nausea or hunger, and the steroids can cause both. It went once she was off them so that was fine.
This morning she was also looking for grass to chew, although I don't think she was sick.
Normally I'd just keep an eye on her and see how she was tomorrow, but having googled, rang the vet who said yes, they ought to see her so they're fitting us in at 4.45...
Will let you know.

The vet thinks it's her liver.
You might remember when they did the scans it was very enlarged, Alison hoped it was just steroid side-effect and would go down.
It doesn't feel as swollen as it did but still tender; she also has a temperature. I had to choose either blood tests or try antibiotics and see if they worked, which is what I opted for (how should I know?!). We're hoping it's an infection, since her immune system isn't going to be good it's a good bet.
2 injections, 10 days' worth of antibiotics; if she's ok/better then back in 10 days, if not obviously go back sooner.
Oh and give her less food and split it up.
Fingers crossed - again

Oh Di, I am sorry and no its not fair. The above are what Mowgli takes (the cat version) and they have been brilliant. Do you think they might help Minnie's liver. They are available online without a prescription but my vet recommended them. Might be worth asking Alison?

For what its worth I would have gone for the antibiotics too
